Netwerk Aalst is renovating

Netwerk Aalst is renovating. We’re saying goodbye to the current building, but we’re doing it in style. Two walls are already waiting to be taken down! ECTV Architects will come by to unveil the new renovation plans. Watch the last film in our cinema before we temporarily set up our screen in the VTI technical school. Come and toast to the future. And so much more!

In the meantime, we’re looking for ideas on how we can make this a home together. Think, sketch or work with us on the future of Netwerk Aalst.

13h – HIT THE ROAD

We start with a film by Panah Panahi, in which precious memories of the past alternate with fears of the unknown and uncertain future. How do you say goodbye?

14h – 17h – VITRINE

Podcast maker Julie Weyne collected stories about objects linked to residents of Rechteroever in Aalst. Objects with a special meaning, that have a story or an anecdote attached to them. Are you also curious about these stories? Take a walk through the neighbourhood and be surprised by creative interludes and a free ice cream. Or take a seat in the listening corner.

15h – ECTV ARCHITECTS

ECTV Architects will talk more about Netwerk Aalst’s renovation plans in detail. Thanks to the architectural firm of Els Claessens and Tania Vandenbussche, Netwerk Aalst will look completely different next year: we will be more visible, more accessible and more sustainable. We will also have a new reception, a renovated movie theatre, a cosier café, and much more!

16h – JUAN PABLO PLAZAS

The building is a body and it needs some bodybuilding, while the floors can be referred to as stories because of their storage potential.

Artist Juan Pablo Plazas will guide you through the spaces that you don’t get to see as a regular visitor in Netwerk Aalst. These spaces happen to be the ones that will change most after the renovations, they will be nothing but stories. He will charge them with new stories and reveal some of the ones that live as rumours in the walls.

16u – 18u – knock down the walls

Help with the demolition and at the same time have fun with a sledgehammer.

16h – 19h – REKKER

REKKER is an organisation that takes children and youths on an audiovisual adventure through stop-motion films. The films of a number of children will be screened in our cinema after a short presentation by the directors themselves.

17h – Smuljungle visits

Mindfulness in nature, a zero waste picknick and a bike tour, Smuljungle also celebrates on 25 June. They want to turn Sint-Job into the tastiest place in Aalst, and they will end their festivities with us.

18h – Join the dinner table

Together with our neighbours, we will make a wonderful table full of tasty goods. We will also have a listen and look around to find out what is necessary to make a true home of Netwerk Aalst for everyone.
