Bram De Jonghe

Bram De Jonghe (° Ostend 1985) produces sculptural equivalents of absurd reasoning executed preposterously in order to prove they might in fact be anything but absurd. All that he sees, states and carries out is grist to the mill of this demonstrative process, with authentic wonder being the ultimate goal. His work is a sequence of playful associations and actions that can be as practical as poetic, while also testing the limits of logic. As mental and mechanical constructions they create twilight zones where other encounters between the artwork and the viewer are made possible. Bram De Jonghe studied at St. Lukas Ghent and lives and works in The Hague. He won the Volkskrant Beeldende Kunst Prijs in 2015.
