The entire body of work Stijn Ank has created until now can be considered as an intense, extensive and impassioned research into the various ways in which contemporary sculpture can possibly be defined or, rather, redefined in relation to its surrounding space. The hypothetical, non-referential nature of his works, resulting from a distinct creative method, led the artist to the evident choice of simply numbering them chronologically, thus confirming the radical choice of letting them exist in a pure, autonomous way and deftly avoiding the many traps the legacy of postmodernism has left us with.
