Met enige fierheid kondigt Netwerk de co-productie La Mesure Végétale aan, een nieuw werk van kunstenaars Fabien Giraud & Raphaël Siboni, gefilmd in de arctische setting van Spitsbergen. De film gaat in première tijdens deze eerste Belgische solotentoonstelling in Netwerk.

Gegroeid uit de praktijk van documentaire en cinema, richten Giraud & Siboni hun onderzoek op de conceptuele benadering en de beeldvorming van de wereld door de mens. Ze stellen de evolutie van technieken, de tijd en schaalverhoudingen in vraag, wat ons heeft gebracht tot een wereldbeeld dat de maat van de mens ver overstijgt.

“A simple machine is a term coined in the 18th century to describe a mechanical device able to change the direction or magnitude of a force. Classically there are 6 such elementary devices: the lever, the wheel, the pulley, the inclined plane, the wedge and the screw. This show is conceived as an addition to this list. It makes the hypothesis that an exhibition – any exhibition – may very well be nothing else than another crude and rudimentary attempt in this mechanics of inflection.”
